World Record Honour for MET Institute of Mass Media for Student-Led Sustainable Trophy Initiative

Mumbai, December 2025: The MET Institute of Mass Media (MET IMM) has been awarded a prestigious World Record by the Global Book of Excellence, England, for its pioneering student-led sustainable trophy initiative. This honour underscores the institute’s deep commitment to experiential learning, creative innovation, and environmental stewardship.

The Certificate of World Record was formally presented at the MET Bandra Campus by Mr. Shrikant Kale, Secretary of the Global Book of Excellence, England. The recognition was received by Hon. Trustee Shri Pankaj Bhujbal. In preparation for METamorphosis 2025, the institute’s flagship annual media festival scheduled from December 11 to 13, students designed and built an impressive 9.5-foot-tall trophy weighing 350 kilograms, crafted entirely from e-waste and eco-friendly materials.

The large-scale installation was constructed live on November 18, 2025, during a six-hour build from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the MET Bhujbal Knowledge City, Bandra and unveiled on December 05, 2025. A team of 69 students from MET IMM collaborated across media, design, production, communication, fabrication, and aesthetic teams to transform discarded materials into a striking work of art that conveys a powerful message of sustainability.

The initiative was shaped by the vision of Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, MET, with leadership support from Smt. Vishaka Bhujbal, Senior Management Representative, and academic mentorship from Dr. Priya Menon Nair, Director, MET IMM. Renowned visual artist Dr. Sumeet Patil guided the students through the artistic and structural execution. At the unveiling of this gigantic trophy, Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee - MET, said, "This award symbolizes our unwavering commitment to the vision of MET, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence. This award is dedicated to our hon. Founder Chairman, Shri Chaggan Bhujbal.”

Student leaders Ronak Thakkar and Althea Sequeira, along with their 67 teammates, continue to oversee the creative, logistical, and production aspects of METamorphosis 2025. Their leadership reflects MET IMM’s mission to shape future-ready media professionals who think boldly, innovate sustainably, and lead with purpose—echoing the festival theme: Mediaverse – Where Thoughts Glow and Time Flows.

The sustainable trophy will be awarded to the Best College in Mumbai at METamorphosis 2025, based on overall performance across cultural, media, intellectual, journalism, and sports categories. From conception to execution, this project remains entirely student-led and faculty-supported. The installation stands as a powerful symbol of transformation, showcasing the potential to turn waste into meaningful art.

Performances remain the loudest talking point. “Akshaye stood out in the movie,” said a viewer, impressed by his menacing and often unpredictable turn. Another praised Ranveer Singh’s leading-man energy, “Ranveer Singh was dashing in it. Amazing.”

The buzz is already extending beyond the current release. With the sequel slated for March, audiences are impatient. A female viewer said, “We’re just waiting for the next part now. March is too long, they should release it earlier!”
